gf3Girlfriend Tours

What could be more fun than a week or long weekend in Paris with your girlfriends? Richard Nahem and Eye Prefer Paris Tours has designed special Girlfriend Tours expressly for the Girls’ Guide to Paris. His uncommonly entertaining tours show you the best of Paris, revealing the city’s many secrets, and are a perfect mix of architecture, fashion and food.

Whether you’re an uptown girl, a downtown girl or more of a bohemian girl, Richard can show you Paris in all its splendor. Each tour lasts three hours.

The Uptown Tour
On this dazzling tour we’ll cover the area near the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. It starts off at the magnificent Palais Royal, Cardinal Richelieu’s former palace and gardens, dating from the 17th century. Alongside the palace is a shopping arcade with some of the top designer clothing, jewelry and accessory boutiques, including Rick Owens, Pierre Hardy, Marc Jacobs and Didier Ludot, the best vintage couture shop in Paris. Next we will stroll down the Madison Avenue/Rodeo Drive of Paris, the rue St. Honoré, which has the chicest and most exclusive boutiques, like Lanvin, Hermès, Balenciaga and Colette.

We’ll save the best part for last when we visit Place de la Madeleine, the most delicious square in Paris. It boasts some of the city’s most decadent gourmet shops, including the world-famous Fauchon and Hédiard, plus a special shop that sells more than 20 varieties of mustard.

The Downtown Tour
This more informal, let-your-hair-down tour is of the Marais, an area much like SoHo and Greenwich Village in New York. The Marais is one of the oldest and most historic districts in Paris, with gorgeous former private mansions and architecture dating from the 1500s lining the charming, narrow streets. But the best part of the Marais is the cutting-edge fashion and home design boutiques, with many brands that are sold only in France—some only in Paris! Gerard Darel, Barbara Bui and Vanessa Bruno are some of the chic clothing boutiques we will visit, along with a very special shop where you can have any garment custom dyed in any of more than 100 colors in one day. To top off the tour, we will visit some fantastic gourmet shops and stop for a mouthwatering pastry at one of the top bakeries in Paris.

The Left Bank Bohemian Tour
St. Germain des Prés is one of the most beloved areas of Paris. As a former hub for intellectuals in the 1960s, it still has a unique, carefree vibe that is unparalleled. From its stunning 18th- and 19th-century architecture and lavish belle epoque–style buildings to its top antiques and contemporary art galleries, and from its marvelous gourmet shops to its famous people-watching cafés, St. Germain des Prés is the quintessential Paris experience. Best of all, it’s home to some of the city’s smartest boutiques, where only the chicest Parisian women shop. We will visit the rue du Bac, known for its small, individually owned designer and home shops; rue de Grenelle, a shoe fanatic’s dream, with nearly a dozen megabrand shoe stores, including Christian Louboutin; and Bon Marché, the most fashionable specialty store in Paris, much like Barneys New York.
